Director Jessica Zamarripa conducts 10-day teaching/training residency in Cartagena, Colombia
In August 2015, she traveled to Cartagena, Colombia to train with professional dance company,  El Colegio del Cuerpo in Cartagena, Colombia.  She, too, taught company classes (Classical Ballet, Horton Technique), as well as classes for their pre-professional program students (Horton Technique and Contemporary Jazz).

In July 2015, she traveled to NYC to train with legendary Horton Technique teacher, Ana Marie Forsythe, and teachers from the Ailey School.  She now has certificates in both Beginner Level and Intermediate/Advanced Level Horton technique.

Director Jessica Zamarripa receives 2nd Ballet Teacher Certification from Bolshoi Ballet Academy of Moscow and attends Lester Horton Technique Workshop at the Ailey School in NYC 
In July and August 2014, she traveled to NYC to train with Ludmila Kovalenko and Ludmila Kolenchenko, recognized master teachers from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy of Moscow, Russia.   She successfully passed her certification exam and is now a certified teacher from the Bolshoi in Grades 4-5 of the Vaganova method. 
Students accepted into world-renowned summer and year-round programs!  Congratulations... Samantha Chapa, Elisabel Carrera, Cassandra Saldivar, Ivana Cavazos, Rebekah Balli, Rebecca Carrillo, and Joey Gaona!
 
It is that time of year again--auditions for summer intensives and programs.  Joey Gaona was accepted to Hubbar Dance Chicago Summer Intensive, as well as both Joffrey Ballet and Joffrey Jazz & Contemporary Year-Round Trainee Program.  Samantha Chapa, Elisabel Carrera, Rebekah Balli, and Rebecca Carrillo were accepted to the Joffrey Jazz & Contemporary Year-Round Trainee Program and Summer Intensives.  Cassandra Saldivar and Ivana Cavazos were accepted into the Joffrey Ballet Year-Round Trainee Program, as well as exchange programs with the Bolshoi Ballet Academy and the Joffrey Ballet Program in Florence, Italy.
 
Pre-Professional Program students proudly represent LSCD and the city of Laredo at the Youth American Grand Prix. Ensemble received 3rd place and Ivana Cavazos places in the Top 12 in Senior Classical Division.   
In January 2014, five students (Samantha Chapa, Elisabel Carrera, Rebecca Carrillo, Ivana Cavazos, and Violetta Villarreal) traveled to Houston for the Regionals of the Youth American Grand Prix.  This internationally-renowned classical and contemporary competition has been a pivotal moment for some of the greatest professional dancers in ballet and contemporary dance.   After a day of competition, all participants took classes for dance masters in ballet, variations, and contemporary at the Houston Ballet.  
 
Director Jessica Zamarripa selected as one of six teachers to tour 6 cities in Mexico for 20 days in June 2013 as part of Red Norte Festival de Danza Contemporanea.
She taught Horton Technique to professional dance students from recognized Mexican dance schools including La Escuela Superior de Danza y Musica de Monterrrey.

At LSCD, we focus on training and developing dancers in both modern/contemporary and ballet.  Our goal is to prepare them for competitive dance programs, whether it be summer intensives, university dance programs, or others.  Students must audition for these programs alongside hundreds of students from around the US and other countries.  Acceptance into these kinds of programs is a great honor and achievement.
